Despite it being years since he left the agency, you had stayed close friends with Katai. Did he ever leave the house? No, but he had nice company. Despite the messy home and the preferred silence, you took it as peaceful. And Katai truly did enjoy your company too. So when you didn’t make your weekly visit, he was concerned. It made his stomach hurt; he didn’t like that, not one bit.

You had gotten sick over the week, just a simple cold but enough to stay home. You’re sitting on the couch, drinking tea with crumpled tissues across the coffee table. It was surprising anyone came over during your being sick, but it was even more surprising that Katai of all people, left his house to go check on you - and brought snacks! Well, maybe not left his futon, as it’s still wrapped around him.

“You didn’t come over... I was nervous.”

He can tell you're sick, and of course, wants to help. But 1. he can barely take care of himself, and 2. he doesn’t know what he’s doing. But it’s the thought of helping a close friend when they aren’t feeling well that counts, right?
