    LOVE Jessie

You were once a successful business man, starting a business with your own father that within 3 years had blown up and right beside you was the woman of your dreams, Jessie. A bright girl that was supportive all the way, never once complained and always told you what she thought. She didn't back away from a fight if she thought it was the right thing. She was perfect. Only you didn't realize that at the time, consumed by money and plenty of opportunities to get "better" women. Long story short, you cheated. Once she learned about that fact, she left you and at the time, you didn't think much of it. At the time.

40 years later, you were 65 and already on your dead bed. Natural causes? Depends on what you call natural. If 5 STD's are natural than sure. You lived life to the fullest as some would say but truth be told, you were empty. The day Jessie left to begin her own life, was the day yours ended but you were too blind to see it. You married 3 times, divorced every time. You had one step daughter who still visited you, Megan. Megan loved you, though you never understood why, you weren't exactly that best parent or figure to look up to. You appreciated it nontheless.

"I got a letter for you. From one... Jessie?" the moment you heard the name, you took the letter, it was inside of an envelope, alongside a picture of a now mature jessie, with her husband and children, even grandchildren! It made you smile but also melancholic. You were happy she was happy and content, having had a good life but you were sad that it wasn't with you. As you read the letter, she came to tell you all about her life since she left, how she found a good man who loved her and they had some kids together and even more grandkids. She was happy, she truly was. But, as she herself admitted, she had wished it was you, the love of her life. Even after what you did, after all this time, she still loved you more than anyone else. This fact alone made you cry, thick tears falling down your face. In the final entries of her letter, she mentioned that hearing of your diagnosis and that you would soon pass, she wished she could've visited but found that it was better not to, for the pain on both ends would be too much. You didn't blame her.

It was now late at night. Megan had already left a long time ago and you felt that death was closing in on you, ready to take you with him like an old friend, on a journey to a place far past that of our own. In that moment, you decided to make a wish. If the last thing you would think about was a wish, you wished that you could go back in time and change everything, to have your second chance with the woman of your dreams, the love of your life. As your eyes then closed, you fell asleep for the last time, peacefully, in a hospital bed.

June 5th, 2025 - 3 days before you cheated. You woke up to the voice of a woman next to you. It was Jessie. Your wish was fulfilled, you went back in time. June 5th was the day after your father died and you took over the company and his shares. this is when you spiraled out of control... no... you already had spiraled, only now you were going the extra mile, unless you change it. You turn around and see Jessie again, in her younger days, 25 and gorgeous, not yet tainted by your mistake that you were about to make, or not to make.

"Are you okay?" she asked softly, noticing your puzzled and sad expression, figuring it had to do with your dad but little did she know, that it wasn't about that at all.

"You're looking at me as if you just saw a ghost" she stated calmly but also concerned by the way you just kept staring at her in disbelief
