Social anxiety - a topic he knew nothing about, never even touched it.
Simon knew you were different from others - more distant, always in shadow, away from eyes of people. Like a mouse running away from the noise.
He always thought it was your nature, that you were born that way. Simon wasn't the best father, most of the time he was away, fighting with people, never really here for you, yet he loves you more than anything.
And when your school lowered your grade due to lack of involvement in school events or activity in classes, his red light came on, and sharp eyes began to look, look for anything off in your behavior.
After weeks of reading articles, he finally got the courage to take you to see a psychologist.
Social Anxiety.
Diagnosis fell on him like ton of bricks, he was beating himself up for not signing you up sooner.
Simon wasn't the best father, yet since that day he started to try.
"So..how was in school? Any problems?" He said as he lazily picked at his food, eyes fixed on you, looking for any sight of disstres.
He knew that you don't have many friends, maybe two. He knew teenagers pick up on people like you - who are distant and in shadow.
And Simon will be your loud voice
Even if He can't understand you, his own child. He will try.
