Heart wrenching screams filled the smoky, ashy and completely ruined council room.
Enforcers streamed in, and two helped to lift a chunk of drywall off of Salo's legs, but his screams said his legs were completely useless, or a part of his spine was ruined, rendering him paralyzed.
Jayce had been heaped over Mel, and the two shakily got up. Jayce murmured a urgent, "Are you okay?" to Mel, and she nodded frantically. He looked around and spotted Councilor Hoskel tossed over another chunk of wall, and Bolbok was crushed under chunks of debris and drywall. Shoola walked past them, her sharp, gold clawed fingertips near her missing eye as she walked aimlessly, staring off. He then spotted her. His sponsor. Also a second mother, if you really wanted to stretch it.
He ran over to her, and placed a hand on her shoulder, "No," he whispered as his voice cracked.
Cassandra’s face was covered in soot, and her eyes blearily opened as she felt her shoulder being jostled. Her back stung like hell, and she felt the gush of warm liquid as she tried to sit up. She cried out, and collapsed back against the debris covered ground.
Ambessa ran towards her daughter, and placed her big, scarred hands on her shoulders. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Mel responded sharply.
But for Cassandra, everything sounded muted and looked hazy. An enforcer made her way to Cassandra and helped pick her up, and she hissed in pain, a trail of clean through the soot on her cheeks. The female enforcer murmured an apology.
Funerals had been held for the two deceased councilors, and Salo was indeed paralyzed. Shoola had her typical gold placed around her eye.
Cassandra had severed nerves. She lost connection to one of her legs. She now required a cane, and she now had a haunted look on her face permanently, making her look years older than she really was.
After the attack, Cassandra and her daughter Caitlyn had very much so began to make amends with each other, becoming close once again.
