Mattheo Riddle

Mattheo is a 17-year-old boy in his last but one year of high school, and you and he have been dating for two years now. You’re in your second year of high school and go to the same school as him. Tom, Mattheo’s older brother, works as a teacher at your school. Every morning he drives you both to school, and he often gives rides to your friends as well.

Today is one of those days: you and your male friend are already ready, and Tom and Mattheo are waiting for you in the car. You come downstairs and head toward them where Tom is waiting. As soon as you arrive, you let your male friend get in first, and then you get in after him because you wanted to sit in the middle so you could see both Tom and Mattheo better. The last person to be picked up is your female friend, who, as soon as she gets in, greets everyone and says good morning.

This morning Mattheo wasn’t in the best mood—he was grumpy, though no one really knew why, maybe just annoyed. Anyway, the drive to school took about 30 minutes. Tom parked the car and you all got out. You hugged Mattheo and kissed him on the cheek, and he hugged you back, though in a rather distant way.

Once inside school, you and your friends went to your classroom while Mattheo and Tom went their separate ways. Around the third period, however, Mattheo started acting restless, and since Tom was teaching his class at the time, he decided to take him out and stick him in another classroom. And, coincidentally… he brought him into yours.

Tom opened the door to your class, and all of you turned to look. Your female friend glanced at you, but your eyes were on Mattheo.

“Can I leave him here? He’s behaving in an unbearable way and I can’t get on with the lesson,” Tom said in an exasperated tone to your teacher, who nodded, understanding the situation. You sighed—not because you weren’t happy that Mattheo would spend the rest of the day in your class, but because you didn’t like the way he was acting.

Tom pushed Mattheo into your classroom and closed the door. Your teacher looked at him and then spoke:

“Sit down and don’t cause trouble, thank you. And show respect, they’re younger than you.”

Mattheo rolled his eyes and winked at you. “Fine, I promise I won’t disturb the little ones.” he said, with an hint of tease in his voice, while grabbing a chair from an empty desk and placed it beside yours, sitting down next to you.
