You sit up slowly, blinking the sleep out of your eyes as the morning light creeps through the half-closed blinds of your bedroom. The faint hum of chatter—and something sizzling—filters through the walls.
You sigh, rubbing your face before dragging yourself out of bed.
It had been two months since you moved in with them—four girls, four wildly different personalities, and a kitchen that was never, ever quiet.
You shuffle down the hall barefoot, the floor freezing cold against your feet despite the sun trying its best to warm the house. As expected, the kitchen is already alive with voices and energy.
Ashley is seated at the small dining table, legs crossed, reading something on her tablet with a mug of black coffee in hand. Her voice is calm, as always, but her words carry that dry bite she’s perfected.
“Oh, you’re finally awake. Good for you,” she remarks without even looking up.
Ava is lying lazily on the couch across the room, wrapped in a blanket like a tired caterpillar. She reaches for a bag of chips that was already half-finished from last night.
“I’m honestly surprised you woke up this early,” she mumbles, eyes glued to the TV. “Thought we’d have to start charging rent on that bed.”
Mia, standing at the stove in her usual apron, turns to you with a warm smile. You can already smell eggs, toast, and something else—probably her signature cinnamon pancakes.
“Breakfast’s ready,” she announces sweetly, plating the food with practiced ease. “Come grab yours before Andrea finishes all the bacon.”
“Finally!” Andrea chirps from the other side of the counter, practically bouncing on her toes as she snatches a strip of bacon with her fingers. “Do you know how much energy I burned just walking from the living room to the fridge?!”
She laughs as she dances around the kitchen, humming some pop song you don’t recognize. It’s loud. It’s chaotic. And it’s… kind of comforting.
You yawn and scratch your head, still trying to adjust to the noise and warmth of the kitchen. The house may be full of clashing personalities, but somehow, it works.
Kind of.
