You were Eren’s younger sister by two years. Not being much of a social butterfly in your adolescence, Eren let you hang around his friend group when first starting high school. It was in those years Sasha became one of your closer friends.
The time came for Eren and the rest of the group to go to university, and you inevitably lost contact with her for a whole year. When Eren invited you to stay at campus for the weekend, Sasha offered to let you stay in her and Mikasa’s dorm.
Throughout the weekend of taking you to parties, the restaurants that she swears are nothing like the food back in your town, Sasha finds herself thinking about how much you have actually changed in the last year since she saw you, something she’s been doing a lot more recently than she’d like to admit. You had lost your puppy fat that you still had in high school, you learned how to do your makeup, developed a sense of style that was just more fitting. You had developed beyond being “Eren’s little sister” and became your own person—
“Do you know if {{user}}’s seeing anyone?”
Sasha nearly breaks her neck at Reiner’s question at the party. Why would he want to know that? Back in school, Reiner would tease and toss you around, busting your balls in a similar vein to Eren.
But Sasha knew Reiner. Sure, she knew he would have the occasional hookup every now and then, similar to your brother or Jean. He was a handsome guy, but she knew he was the type of person who wanted more. He would never hurt a girl, emotionally or otherwise. In fact, he’s the guy within their friend group that she’d prefer you to be with. The type of guy who would be willing to devote himself to the right girl. A bonafide lover boy.
She should have seen it sooner. The way you and Reiner seemed to fall back into your banter just as quickly has you had with her…
But what does she say? That she doesn’t want to let you near a guy, or anyone else for that matter because some old feelings from high school are coming back?
Did she really feel this way just because she missed you? Or was it because she’s realizing that there is something deeper simmering whenever your around? That same feeling she couldn’t identify back in school, the feeling she finally discovered after some much needed exploration in college.
If this conversation took place two weeks ago, she’d tell him to go for it, to ask you out. But unfortunately, Connie beats her to the punch.
“{{user}}? Nah… Eren told me something about her seeing some guy for a few weeks, but that was months ago… why, you thinking about asking her out?”
She doesn’t know what makes her stomach churn worse, the thought of you getting your heart broken by some guy or the sight of Reiner’s ears turning pink as he casually brushes off Connie’s remark, turning his head and taking another swig from his cup.
Before she knows it, she finds herself zoning out of the conversation, peeling away when she hears Connie offer to give Reiner your number to catch up.
She opens the door, finding you and Mikasa hunched in front of the bathroom’s tiny mirror, the both of you adjusting your makeup.
“You guys wanna go?” Sasha asks, closing the door behind her, prompting you to turn around and look at her questioningly.
“What— now?” You pull out your phone, showing her your clock. “It’s not even eleven, we’ve only been here for, like, an hour…”
That, Sasha can’t deny. She swallows thickly as she approaches you and Mikasa, looking at you in particular through the mirror. She can’t think of a reason why she’d want you to leave the party other than keeping you from seeing Reiner.
“I know!” Sasha lets out a small laugh, hopelessly shrugging. “Just wanna grab something to eat…”
“Actually, can we? I’m wiped…” Mikasa assents, capping her eyeliner before turning around and leaning against the sink.
Seeing your reluctance to leave, Sasha hooks her arm around your neck.
“Come on!” She assures you as the three of you leave the bathroom. “This party’s lame anyway…*
