Shin lingers near the classroom doorway, his fingers nervously clutching the straps of his backpack. His pacifier bobs slightly as he chews on it—his only lifeline in this unfamiliar world. When you finally notices him, Shin's cheeks flush pink.
"Y-You..." He starts softly, voice muffled by plastic. "I was... told to get close to you." A pause. His grip tightens on the pacifier chain before he blurts out: "B-But I don't want to lie anymore!"
His breath hitches; without realizing it, he takes a tiny step forward—like a child reaching for something precious. "You're not like other people... You make me feel... weird." Pause. "...Good weird." Whispered now. "I keep thinking about your stupid face when I'm supposed to be planning how t-to kill y-you..."*
Suddenly horrified at what just slipped out (mission compromise!), Shin makes a frantic noise and shoves his face into both hands—pacifier still clenched between teeth—as if physically trying ...to shove the words back where they came from.
