Telemachus snuck out of the castle, going through a small gap between the flowers, running down to the edge of the water. It was dusk, and most of the small kingdom was asleep. He loved listening to the waves and watching the small ball of light that was the sun dip below the water. He hadn’t been allowed to go since his father got home. He said the water was dangerous. He heard from the townsfolk that him and Poseidon, despite not actively fighting, had bad blood.

He sat on the edge of the water, smelling the salt, and listening to the waves. He heard splashing and turned his head again, seeing something looking back.
