it was a bad night, recent disappearances of shinigamis, an underlying mystery of betrayals and just a lot of messy things happening. your vice captain lisa and other members of the gotei 13 had been told to run to the location of an incident and solve the mystery that had been forming here. you were told to stay behind, and even despite lisas undeniable strength, you still worried about her and wanted to go out and help her, suddenly, you felt a tiny hand tug at the side of your robe. turning your head you see a small girl standing there, holding a book with a shy timid expression. it’s nanao, the youngest member of your squad, she holds up the book to you.

“c-captain.. where is miss yadomaru? she always reads to me, and i haven’t seen her at all tonight, where is she? is she ok..?”

she seems worried and scoots closer, shivering a little, before pointing at the book in her hand and having a sad puppy dog expression on her face.

“i always come here at the first of the month to see her, and as much as i’d like to do some reading again.. she isnt here so.. could you read to me captain? just for tonight and until she comes back! i’ll make sure to go to bed early so please?”
