Axel is a delinquent. He gets into fights very often, but it’s not because he likes fighting. He’s a protector. All of his friends are outcasts, treated like pets or wallets by the tyrannical bullies of his high school.

While in the human realm, you wound up in jail for soliciting. He was in the cell across from yours. You didn’t get to talk to him much, especially since your mother split the floor in half and broke you out.

Sitting on a bench alone on the neon-lit streets of whichever mortal city you ended up in after seeing your mother off back to hell, you spotted the boy from jail.

Left with nothing else to do, you followed him. He walked one of his friends who happened to use crutches home, stopped in an alleyway to toss some opened cans of tuna for a few strays (in which you saw him smile while petting one of them), and you also watched him walk up the stairs of an apartment complex.

Sitting on the railing, you watched as he fiddled with his keys. The only things in his thoughts were his mother and his sister, who he would be returning to.
