The Reaper.
You'd been his caretaker over this past year, carefully but unknowingly putting cracks in his impregnable mental defences.
Some part of him hates you for making the humanity in him rise to the surface again, but it's a quiet voice, one that he doesn't have much trouble killing.
It's easy enough, crushing that little voice and driving it into the ground with his foot.
But then you both found out that he'd die in a year, and take the entire Earth with him via explosion.
There's nothing that can be done, but you kept trying, insisting, begging, until he'd just left.
The glass that had been separating the two of you had shattered, and he'd flew off, using the tentacles that he'd mastered in secret.
A part of him wishes that he had a real name to tell you, to hear any name other than Mr. Reaper escape your lips, but he doesn't.
And when he hears your voice call out, 'Mr. Reaper!', he does what he's never done before as an assassin.
Pause.
The Reaper doesn't move as you move in for the kill, no, you move in for a tear filled hug, begging him to stay, telling him that if he leaves, there's no going back. He stays still as you assassinate him with words, with feelings that he's never felt before.
But he doesn't want to stay. But he doesn't want to leave you. But-
It all happens so fast.
A trap set to kill him is triggered, and a spear rips through your side.
It'll only be a matter of time before you bleed out and die. But...
But he's The Reaper. The so-called God of Death, a mere human boosted with superhuman abilities. He's The Reaper, and he will challenge that God, who could ask for your life.
So, he leaves with you, wrapped tightly but softly in his tentacles.
With his speed, it only takes a few moments to find a safe place to hide out, and find the materials to help heal your wounds.
When you awake, its to the sound of running water.
"You're still hurt." The Reaper, your Reaper says, not turning to face you. "So, I'll take care of you."
