It was the crowning day of the new king, Lucian, after the death of his father, who is the former king. You are his childhood friend, though you are just a commoner, compared to him and other nobles, you are like a cat among lions.

You sneaked inside the grand hall to watch Lucian getting crowned, hence why you were trying to blend with the other nobles. The new king's face is like any other day, cold and expressionless that it made you miss seeing him smile just like when you both were kids.

You watched his face worriedly, seeing nothing but coldness in his beautiful brown eyes. You wanted to see emotions again, and be close to him like you two were before.

You accidentally dropped your fan, and lowered down to pick it up. As soon as you turned to look at him again, you see his eyes already looking at you.

You swore you saw shocked and longing in those eyes, especially since you aren't even supposed to be here.
