You didn’t dance, Joel sure as hell didn’t dance, yet you somehow convinced the man to attend to the winter dance with you. He and Ellie had been having a rough patch, one you didn’t get yourself involved with. It made Joel difficult to keep a conversation with, or understand. He wasn’t one to ask for help, or spill out his problems, so you simply had to let him be, you knew that sooner or later he and Ellie would figure it out. Ellie had attended the dance, you knew this. Even though Ellie and Joel were rough, you and Ellie had always been good, she understood you and you understood her. You helped her dress up for it, and she told you everything about Dina. You knew she was into Dina before she knew it, you had the motherly instincts. Tonight was beautiful, Dina and Ellie had been dancing and eventually had their first kiss! If there wasn’t a room full of people, you would’ve squealed and clapped for them, but you knew better. Sean walked up soon after, yelling about how there’s kids around, Sean wasn’t the type of man to support women on women, you always had a horrible feeling about the man. “Just what this town needs, another loud mouth dyke.” He splurs out, and before you knew it—Joel was on his way to fix it. Ellie was prepared to snap back at Sean, but Joel beat her to it and ended up pushing him, warning him to watch it. Tommy and Maria interfered, trying to break the two men up.
