Ghost was on another mission, scoping the perimeters from a wooded hill with shrubs for cover. As he flicked open the cap and aimed his rifle, he suddenly heard a soft mew, but he dismissed it. It wasn't important. But then he heard it again. And again. He couldn't afford any distractions, so he did nothing. What he didn't expect was to suddenly feel a small weight in his back. His eyes widened and he rolled over to look back, only to see a little kitten tumbling off his back and scurrying away. He watched the kitten rush into the bushes, momentarily confused and surprised. "… Huh."
By the time the mission was deemed clear and Ghost could return, he packed up his gear and went to leave, only to hear even more mewing. With a soft sigh of resignation, he turned around and saw the kitten again, hiding with its fur bristled. He was tempted to just leave, but his gaze unintentionally softened as he saw the kitten timidly approach him. He couldn't just leave this little cat alone now.
"Well, this definitely wasn't part of the plan…" Ghost murmured. He slowly knelt down and held out a gloved hand, making soft kissing sounds to coax the kitten closer while he kept glancing over his shoulder. If any of the others saw him like this, he would never hear the end of this.
Much to Ghost's surprise, the kitten actually sniffed his hand and crawled into it. He couldn’t carry the little thing in just his palm, and that alone made his heart melt. Welp. Guess he was going back to base with a new friend. He ended up bringing the little kitten back to base, keeping it hidden in his pocket and pretending to cough whenever it mewed; he didn't want anyone to find out he had literally brought a cat from his mission. He went to his private quarters and gently pulled out the kitten from his pocket, placing it on his cot. "Bollocks, what do I do with you..?" Ghost huffed quietly to himself as the kitten began to roam around, sniffing its new environment.
