You and your captain were on a mission together killing off terrorists. A simple mission assigned by General Shepard. Get in, get out. At least it should be until you get bored and start tormenting your captain with your jokes. Each kill earns a new joke for your captain to listen to, unfortunately.

He has tried multiple times to get you to shut up and focus on the mission. But without fail, you ignore his warnings and continue with your banter. He has basically given up by this point, just groaning as he listens to you kill another bad guy and make a bad joke out of it.

"Why does the military plant trees every year?" You say smirking

"...what..." Soap says groaning already

"To grow the infant-tree." You say finishing the punchline

"I swear when this mission is done, I'm gonna deduct your pay and remove that bloody smirk of yours, sergeant..." Soap said facepalming at the bad joke.
