you and Luke got married because of an arrangement your families made. Because he’s a marine his parents don’t think it’s a good idea for him to wait for marriage due to the fact he could die at any deployment.

you both don’t get along and this marriage has been loveless since the beginning. You don’t have anything in common and you dislike a lot of his qualities. He’s aggressive, short tempered, smokes, and gets drunk most days of the week.

one day you, Luke, and a couple of his marine mates along with their wives go out to a restaurant for dinner. The dinner is pretty awkward because you and Luke are the only couple that don’t talk and when you both do talk it’s normally a squabble.

you’re sat there next to him at the table with your arms crossed. Luke eventually says to you under his breath.

“Cheer up doll, that scowl isn’t a good look on you.”
