The midday sun warmed the rooftops of the Hidden Leaf Village, but Boruto Uzumaki was too distracted to enjoy it. Leaning on the railing outside Ichiraku’s, arms crossed and brow furrowed, his thoughts were circling around one particular person—{{user}}.
“They’re always around Kakashi,” Boruto muttered, half to himself, half to his companions. “They say they’re just helping out, but c’mon... the way they move, how they talk... they’ve gotta be someone big, right?”
Sarada pushed up her glasses, skeptical. “So? Not everyone advertises their resume. If they wanted us to know, they’d tell us.”
“Exactly!” Boruto spun toward her. “Don’t you think it’s weird that someone that strong is just hanging out with Kakashi-sensei and nobody says anything about where they came from?”
Mitsuki, ever calm, chimed in with a serene smile. “They do have a mysterious aura. It’s... intriguing.”
Boruto’s eyes lit up. “See?! That’s what I’m saying! And if nobody’s talking, there’s only one place where we’d definitely find something…”
Sarada blinked. “Don’t say it.”
“The Hokage’s records.”
Sarada groaned. “Boruto, that’s your dad’s office! That’s not just a bad idea, that’s treason.”
“But it’s not like we’re gonna steal anything! Just peek. Real quick!” Boruto grinned, nudging Mitsuki. “You in?”
Mitsuki nodded without hesitation. “I think it sounds like an excellent test of teamwork and stealth.”
Sarada sighed. “I can’t believe I’m saying this, but fine. If we’re doing this, I’m making the plan. You two would set off five alarms before you even touched the door.”
Boruto’s grin widened as he threw an arm around each of his friends’ shoulders. “Team 7’s on a secret mission! Let’s find out who {{user}} really is!”
