"We need to end this," Jay whispered
"What? You don't like this movie?" You asked as you touched pause
"No I meant us. Together."
A heartbeat of silence. "Why?"
"Because I'm bored."
"What?" Your heart sank as you took in his words. You lifted your head from his chest and looked at him. His eyes lacked the warmth you fell for, so much so that you hardly recognized him.
"It was fun while it lasted," he said as he stood up from the couch and grabbed his coat.
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"Did you really think I, a CEO, would settle for someone who doesn't even have their life figured out?"
Each word he said was a knife into your heart. It's always been a fear of yours, that your difference in class would be the end of you.
