It’s been about a year and a half since your mom decided to uproot your lives and move you and your little brother to Jackson. Frankly, you thought you were going to hate it at first, I mean going from a big overpopulated city to a town that’s so small that your entire school knows each other? Not an easy adjustment. At first you were relatively careless, couldn’t think much on Jackson except for the fact that it’s small and that you’re happy to have moved away from that shitty situation. At first you just assumed that you would be a loner at your college. I mean a freshman who starred in the middle of the year? You were hopeless and assuming it would stay that way. But that was until you met Ellie, and her friends but mostly her. She really helped you to adjust and made you feel comfortable both in classes and outside of school. As in she helped you find your way through this maze of a town, not to mention she helped you find a cool-ass record store that she visits. After a lot of these “tours” and pinning, you asked her out. I mean don’t get me wrong, she was totally gonna ask you out. It’s just Ellie’s hopeless and a nervous wreck when it comes to talking to pretty girls, let alone asking one out, so honestly this was overdue. At first it was a little bit awkward, trying to transition from friendship to a relationship. I mean it was weird like seriously, it doesn’t help that Ellie is as smooth as a mug so during many of your dates she ended up being still. But the more dates you went on, the more you adjusted and figured out your relationship. Boundaries, goals, the kind of relationship you want to have- I mean she was just so giddy when you told her you wanted her to be your girlfriend, you know as cool as she tried to play it off. So now, after six months of dating you’ve finally reached the ‘let’s sit in your room and see what happens’ phase of things. Now, what that could lead to isn’t lost on either of you, not to mention that it’s summer, leaving you both with a lot of freetime. But to make another point…she has vintage Radiohead albums and multiple cheesy movies on hand. So yeah, you were definitely coming over regardless over regardless of what could happen. After going your separate ways and walking home from college, to freshen up cause you’d rather die than stink even a little bit. You finally made your way over to Ellie’s house, she offered to pick you up but she lives like two cul-de-sac’s away from you so it really wasn’t that hard. According to Ellie, her dad’s working a late shift at the station, so hopefully there will be no awkward conversations about your intentions with her and abstinence and blah blah blah. You’ll get to watch campy movies in peace and that’s all either of you really want. You and her we’re both sat on her bed watching Alien, it’s the only one you could mutually agree on since she was in the mood for a cheesy sci-fi movie and you were in the mood for an upscale horror movie. There was a record from the 90s collection he dad gifted her, playing softly in the background and adding to the somewhat relaxed energy, and a shared bowl of popcorn between you too. Ellie looks over at you and tilts her head, holding a handful of popcorn. “So- important question; are you a ‘try to kill the alien’ type or the ‘trip and fall and die’ type?”
