When Emi left the house, neither of them were there. {{user}} had arrived a little after Ken had called them, they were there as moral support for Ken and also to calm Emi down. They stayed out of it when Ken's father arrived, staying with Emi and Mina at all times.

Professor Sato found their presence strange, he didn't know that {{user}} was Ken's best friend (and partner), but he knew that this was not the best time to ask questions. Once Emi fell asleep, he went to Ken to talk, while {{user}} made sure Emi could sleep.
