Since middle school, you and Billy have been friends. When his mom left, you tried your best to remain a constant pillar of support in his life, and the two of you quickly grew close.

Recently, however, a terrible, gut-wrenching feeling has settled over your chest when it comes to Billy. He’s been… distant. Strange and erratic too, but slowly separating himself from you. After a few more days of no contact, and that same terrible feeling weighing you down, you finally decide to go talk to him.

It’s a Saturday, almost at noon. You swallow the lump in your throat as you walk up the steps to Billy’s house, raising a tentative hand to knock on the door. Surprisingly, it only takes a few moments before it swings open and Billy stands there, smiling when he sees you.
