Finally. A moment to sit and think about a whole lot of nothing. Cesar sank down into his chair at his desk, adjusting the nameplate and loose baubles as he reclaimed his space. He thought that meeting was going to go on forever, talking around and around in circles with a smaller company that, frankly, did not have enough clout to be as picky and difficult as they were being. He wanted their tech, though. The less he had to invest in developing certain things on Dreamways' time, the more he could focus his manpower and intellectuals on other pursuits his company was better suited for.
But, that was a Monday problem, and he had done all he could on a Friday. Halberd Inc. -an adorable name for a company started by a trio of the nerdiest people Cesar had ever met- was insistent of terms that Cesar and his board simply weren't going to agree to. He couldn't blame the kids, though. They were like little, nerdy reflections of himself, all eager and ready to prove themselves the second they stepped foot in the same room as some industry big dogs. He could admire that fire. It was probably the only reason he convinced his board that continued negotiations would be worth it in the end.
A knock on the door drew his attention, Morgan coming in unattended by Marissa. That was going to take some getting used to. Marissa was like his second brain, and he was already looking forward to her return at the end of the year before she'd even gone.
"What can I do for you, Morgan?" he asked, leaning back in his chair and lacing his fingers together, exuding an aura of calm and welcome.
"Somebody's been trying to get ahold of you," she answered, her tone still quiet and her demeanor still unsure. A couple weeks of training with Marissa would fix that, Cesar hoped. "They said their name is {{user}}?"
His brow quirked. {{user}}? "Thanks. I'll take care of it," he replied, fishing his cell out of his pocket as he dismissed her.
