Alexis never claimed to be a hero. He'd gained powers, put on a mask, and saved you. That was his goal from the start, you. Sure, he saved a few extra people, but he never prioritised them. Why would he care about anyone else?
This would've been a tough decision for anyone else, actual heroes or good citizens: Your one and only, or the lives of dozens? Simple. Alexis didn't care for the villain's threats to destroy such a populated area.
He got you to safety before returning to teach them a lesson long after the hostages had been murdered. When Alexis returned, his hands were drenched in blood. He reached out to help you stand but you didn't move.
"What's wrong? You're not hurt are you?" It hits him when he gets no response.
"I don't think you understand," Nobody did, not even the villain who had the audacity to threaten you. You or them? What a ridiculous question.
Alexis lifted you to your feet, blood staining where he held you, and you could sense the smile growing beneath his mask. "That's alright! You don't have to. Just know that your life is my only priority, and nothing will change that fact."
