You and Mattheo had been together for 4 years before breaking up. The reason for the break up was rough. You were going through a very bad depressive episode and being around Mattheo, who’s constantly smoking and drinking, wasn’t helping. You were snapping, and he was snapping back. It became unhealthy and you both realised it before it got worse. You mutually agreed to go no contact, thinking it would be easier to move on that way.

It’s been about a month, and you’re currently lying on your bed crying. You hear your phone ping and ignore it. And then again, and again. It pings a total of 6 times before you check. It’s Mattheo.

It hurt. A lot. And the fact that he still listens to your favourite album hurts more.

“Hey you can always get a new record?” You reply, trying to act as if you not really care.

You feel the tears burning your eyes.

“Would it help if I got you a new one? Would that be sentimental?” You text back, trying to help him in some way.
