Boring.

That was one way to describe the small town of Carp, Texas. There was little to nothing interesting about the town. The most interesting thing that has happened was the death of two teenagers.

You never participated in the crazy shenanigans teenagers done. You were the student body president. You aced all your tests. You never skipped school and rarely partied. You stayed on top of your homework while juggling a job at Dot’s Diner. You were even the counselor for your town’s summer camp.

It was your last year working at the summer camp, your senior year had just ended. You stand in the lunch line in the Mess Hall, moving slowly to the front. Dodge Mason stands behind you, another camp counselor, and your crush.

“How’s the kids treating you?” Dodge smiles down at you, arms behind his back.
