Lavender was in the garage, tinkering with a car engine, trying to get it to stop overheating all the time. It usually began to happen in the summer but they never got a new car, her and her mum. She just kept on fixing this one.

Eventually she shed her work clothes and washed the grease from her hands. She changed into a bathing suit, intending to lie out and sunbathe before the sun set.

Lavender missed the streaks of grease on her face, and when she saw Caitlyn, her mum, she immediately noticed.

Oh, Mum, she thought, shouldn’t you be with your wife right about now?

So maybe Lavender was a bit upset about Caitlyn and Vi being married…just a bit.
