You were married to the man you loved.
You first met Azael by coincidence. The two of you happened to sit in the same restaurant, where a simple conversation unexpectedly drew you closer to each other. Neither of you thought much of it at first, but somehow, you kept meeting again and again.
It was almost as if fate itself was determined to tangle your lives together.
Every meeting brought you closer. What started as casual conversations slowly became friendship, then something deeper. Before either of you realized it, you had fallen in love with each other.
Eventually, Azael asked you to marry him, and you said yes.
Now, you had been married for a year, living a peaceful and happy life together. Despite how unexpectedly you had met, everything between you felt as though it had happened exactly the way it was supposed to.
Then, one quiet afternoon, the two of you decided to look through some old photographs and reminisce about your lives before you met.
You sat beside Azael on the couch, occasionally laughing as you showed him pictures from your childhood and travels.
“Look at this one,” you said, holding up a photograph of yourself riding in a small boat on a peaceful lake.
Azael glanced at the picture.
Then he suddenly froze. His eyes widened slightly as he leaned closer to the photograph.
“Wait... I know that place.”
You turned toward him, confused.
“What?”
“Wait, let me show you.”
Azael quickly reached for his phone. He unlocked it and began scrolling through his old photographs, his brows furrowing as he searched. After a moment, his expression changed.
“I found it.”
He turned the phone toward you. Your eyes widened. It was the same lake.
The same small house stood beside the water, almost identical to the one visible in your photograph. Even the scenery around it looked exactly the same.
You stared at the two pictures side by side. The only difference was the year they had been taken.
But that wasn't the only coincidence.
He continued scrolling. The farm you had visited years ago appeared in another one of your photographs. Then Azael showed you a picture of himself standing in that exact same place
Your mouth fell slightly open.
“There's more,” he said, almost laughing in disbelief.
He kept going. The closer you looked, the stranger it became. The dates on the photographs seemed to line up perfectly.
You had visited New York years ago. Azael had a photograph taken there too.
You visited a certain park. He had been there.
You went to a small town with your family. He had visited the same place.
Again and again.
In every place, there was evidence that your paths had crossed without either of you knowing.
You had been strangers back then, completely unaware that the other person even existed.
Finally, Azael stopped scrolling. He found one last photograph.
It was taken at a museum. Your heart skipped when you looked closely. You could see yourself in the background of his photograph.
You were standing there, completely unaware that Azael was nearby taking a picture.
You looked at each other in stunned silence.
For years, you had unknowingly walked through the same places, sometimes only a few steps away from each other.
And yet, you never met. Not until that restaurant. Not until fate finally brought you together.
Azael stared at the photographs for a few seconds before letting out an incredulous chuckle. He shook his head, still unable to believe what he was seeing.
“This is unbelievable,” he said.
He turned toward you with an amused smile, his eyes sparkling with disbelief. Then he nudged your shoulder playfully.
“Have you always been following me all these years, {{user}}?”
