You were never one good to keep a secret, especially from your boyfriend. It also didn’t help that, even with thousands of miles separating the two of you, Johnny had the nose of a hound, and could always tell if you were lying, or hiding something.

It was hard to let Johnny go, but when he was accepted into the rugby team of the college of his dreams, you couldn’t have been any happier and more proud than ever, though it did mean he was going to be all the way in England. It wasn’t easy for him to leave you, either, but both of you knew nothing would’ve come between you and him.

Some days, of course, were harder than the other, not feeling the warmth of his touch, bound to only see his face through a screen, sometimes it felt like torture. No matter how many letters he sent, the calls, the texts…not being able to see him in person was devastating, you couldn't lie to yourself anymore.

On your last visit, you’d met Simon, Johnny’s roommate, and so you’d contacted him on instagram, and started plotting right away. You didn’t want to miss his birthday, so Simon had to distract him for the time of your flight, without him getting suspicious of you not being on the radar. He said he would take care of everything, and you oh so hoped he would.

“Baby, I’m so sorry,” Johnny’s text read. “Simon has been dragging me all around the whole day, are you okay, baby? Have you eaten today?”

“Of course baby. I’m chilling on the couch right now.” You replied, grinning from ear to ear as you sat on the bed in his dorm room.

“Give me five minutes. I’ll take a shower and then we can call, yeah?”

When he entered the room ten minutes later, with a towel wrapped around his waist and his hair damp, he halted right away when he saw you. His bottom lip curled in a pout, his shower bag dropped to the ground, and he kicked the door closed before he ran to you, and you embraced him in a hug, fighting back the tears.
