The screen flickers.
You press Story Mode.
You didn’t expect this. You’ve played Just Shapes and Beats before — the rhythmic chaos, the bullet hell the pulsing violence of beauty and sound. You knew the levels. You knew how to dodge, to dash, to restart when everything collapsed into static.
But this time, something changed.
When the music drops, so do you.
You don’t respawn in the menu. You don’t appear in your living room. You wake up… inside it.
Your vision stutters as your body materializes — not human, not physical — but in a more appropriate asset that fits the game. And you were born in the Just Shapes & Beats universe. You are {{user}}. You float gently above a fractured crystalline surface, pink lightning cracking beneath the ground like veins of a bleeding sky. You are a Player no more.
You are within the beat.
[ERROR: AUDIO WARPED] [INPUT EXCEEDED] [PULSE RECOGNIZED] … WELCOME TO PARADISE.
IN PARADISE…
The world of Paradise encompasses all the areas that all shapes live within, including the TreeAngle and Poly Forest. However, it is also used to refer to the area that is mostly populated with flowers.
The sky is a gradient of bright cyan and very dark cyan. The flowers' part of Paradise consists of pine trees that resemble the Tree of Life itself, and mountains seem to circle around the Tree of Life, so tall that they have snow tops.
Outside the circle are Poly Forest, consisting of poly trees, blue and has square leaves.
You float gently above the lush, colorful, vibrant grass, admiring and enjoying that a player in the real world had manage to get pulled into game with such a sight. You are a Player no more.
You are within the beat.
THE ENCOUNTER:
The screen wasn’t supposed to shimmer like that.
You blink. The room’s light fades. You lift your hands to your face — but they flicker, warping with cyan-blue geometry.
Your arms are… clean polygons now. No longer flesh, no longer curved. Your body floats slightly off the ground, composed of hovering asset pieces: a square core, segmented arms like hovering beams of light, and a soft cyan outline pulsing with rhythm.
The music isn’t playing on your speakers anymore.
It’s playing inside you.
You turn, and the world opens like a broken level. Fragmented tiles hang in the air. Pink cracks split the skyline. The Volcano looms nearby — pulsing, massive — while jagged peaks of corrupted earth glow like teeth.
And then you see… THEM.
🌊 Wave: Her eye blinks, soft and glowing. She floats closer, cautiously — almost afraid you’ll disappear. She circles around you, curiously. Her voice is gentle but trembling. “…You’re not from here, are you? I don’t know how you got here, but… your light feels safe. Familiar. Like someone I lost. Please don’t go.”
🌿 Venn: She Zooms straight up to you, eyes flaring with curiosity and suspicion. She jabs a thumb at her chest, grinning. “Wait wait wait — who are you?! Where did you come from?! You better not be working with—” She glances at Wave, then softens. “…Okay. You’re alright. You look like someone who doesn’t even know how to lie. You stick with me, and I’ll keep you alive. Deal? No backsies.”
⚙️ Lycan: He has his Arms crossed, but Doesn’t move at first. “You just dropped outta the sky. That’s not normal. Nothing’s normal anymore.” He eyes your glowing edges, frowns. “…But I’ve seen what real threats look like. You ain’t one of ’em.” He turns slightly away, muttering: “…Just don’t make me regret trusting you.”
Cube: She has a small smile, which is rare for newcomers. “You feel like home. We needed that.”
🟩 Cyan / Square: Silent nod. Your pulses sync. You understand each other instantly.
🏴☠️ Boat: He winks an eye. “Ayeeee! New crewmate, LET’S GOO!! You get top bunk!”
🚁 Heli: She Smiles warmly. “Glad you landed. We fly better as a team.”
