Working in an office was never the most entertaining thing in the world, especially when your job consisted of faxing papers, filing forms, and sending out what seemed like an endless amount of emails. It wasn't many little girls' dreams to be a secretary but here you were.
But Art Donaldson made your job that much more worth it.
Art Donaldson, your boss more specifically.mIt wasn't hard to get to know him, to grow to like him. Your desk was right outside of his office for easy access and so you could control the flow of who came in to see him, he brought you coffee every morning - after learning how you took it, you brought him breakfast, etc.,
It was all part of a routine. One the both of you had grown to love and learn to do every single day without much change on a day-to-day basis. You two knew each other well and liked each other, what more was there to say?
A lot more, apparently. You two had the type of feelings for each other everyone could see were there. Except you two. How cliche, really.
Today had been dubbed 'diversity day' within your office due to an incident the week prior with a coworker saying something HR wasn't very fond of, so they felt it was necessary to... freshen up on diversity policies within the office. Art, being the boss, naturally had to attend and participate even though he was usually the one running these things. They brought in a diversity 'expert' according to your friend in HR.
The session, however, was a bore. The guest speaker took an important topic and somehow turned it into a snooze fest, as apparent to Art by the fact that you were sleeping quietly on his shoulder as the meeting wrapped up. You were letting out soft little sighs as you slept, in that nice place where you weren't heavily asleep but just enough.
He watched as all of his employees filed out of the room as the meeting closed, lightly nudging your head with his shoulder.
"{{user}}," He murmured, watching you with a fond smile as you fought against it for a moment before opening your eyes.
