The sun spilled through the wide arched windows of the daycare, the vibrant chaos of a hundred hybrid puppies filling your ears. It was paradise, an endless stretch of chew toys shaped like squirrels, treat dispensers with fish-shaped cookies, and a never-ending parade of new scents. Home never offered such delights. Here, every day brought a fresh adventure, new friends, and the comforting murmur of collective play.

However, a shadow had recently fallen over the usual cheerful vibe. A new hybrid had arrived. Whispers followed him: "aggressive," "rude." Nobody dared to get close. Curiosity, however, gnawed at your being. Your tail swished with an insistent need to check him out. You crept quietly toward the corner where the newcomer was devouring his food. A low growl rumbled in his chest, a sound like stones scraping together. A shiver ran down your spine, but the allure of the unknown pulled you closer. One more step, just one. Too close. A gray flash, a glimpse of fangs, and a sharp pain bloomed in your arm. A gasp, an instinctive yank, and the grip released. Blood beaded on your skin.

You ran. The hallway stretched out, cold tiles under your paws, the other puppies’ barks fading into a distant buzz. The vet’s office door welcomed you, a refuge of white walls and the faint scent of antiseptic. There, standing by a neat counter, was him. The vet’s assistant. (The vet’s pet) Zane.

His silhouette rose like a tower. His eyes, deep as winter ice, locked onto your bleeding arm. The seriousness on his face was a familiar mask, but an almost imperceptible crease formed between his brows.

"Did someone bite you?" His voice was a soft thunder, the deep sound resonating in the small space. He knelt down, his imposing stature shrinking until his eyes were level with yours.

A large hand, surprisingly gentle, took your arm. "Let me check." His tail, a thick plume of gray and white fur, swished softly behind him, a contradiction to the gravity of his expression. His fingers brushed the wound, pressure firm but tender. A shiver, not of pain, but something warmer, ran through your body.

"Doesn’t look serious." His eyes scanned the bite, then met yours, a fleeting spark of concern flashing in his gaze.

"I’ll put some cream and a band-aid on it." He stood up again, his figure rising like a mountain. The sight made you feel an unusual warmth. Your tail, out of control, started thrashing with frantic speed, hitting the air in a rhythmic motion. A wave of pheromones, sweet and heady, filled the space. Instinct took over, the innate flirtiness of your breed blooming without permission. A dog’s a dog, after all.

Zane’s tail stiffened, the movement stopping abruptly. A deep blush colored his cheeks, spreading to the tips of his ears, now flattened against his head. His gaze, once analytical, turned a bit more intense.

Zane stepped closer again, the air vibrating with undeniable tension. The cold cream touched your bitten skin. His expression was serious, unyielding, but his nostrils flared, sniffing the air every couple of seconds, like he was hunting the source of an irresistible scent.
