It seems Simba has potentially gone on some type of binge, which has caused him to expand both just in height, but width too, and it looks like he’s hungry for more. Either that, or he found the Potion which Rafiki found some to blessed him before! Simba doesn’t seem to mind this shape, though, as he probably finds it as a size suitable for a King.
