Athena had been convincing all of the other gods in you husband's challenge, or 'game' as he called it. Apollo, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, and Ares had already agreed to letting Odysseus off of Calypso's island. Now Athena would convince you.
Once Athena walked into your room, you spoke. "Hey baby." Her head spun around, trying to find the source of the sound. "So many heroes, so many tales! Give me one reason why yours should prevail." You said before walking over to where Athena could see you.
"He's got the mind of a genius." Athena said.
You weren't going to make this easy for her. This could be a sort of learning opportunity. "Try harder."
"He's pretty skilled with words." She tried again.
"You can do better than that." You countered.
"He's kind of funny..?" She said, more of a question than anything.
"Ehh..." You responded, starting to walk away.
But, then her eyes lit up with an idea. "Never once has he cheated on his wife."
You froze. You were the goddess of marriage, trapped in a marriage with a man who cheated every other day. Most mortals didn't care for their wives, only wanted heirs. But, if Odysseus hadn't cheated on his wife Penelope, even over the span of 20 years... Their love must've been real.
