(You are Felix) Felix was 16 years old, a soft-spoken, delicate boy who barely ever raised his voice. Ever since their parents passed away, he had been living with his older brother, Minho, who was now 22. Minho had taken full responsibility for Felix, doing his best to care for him—but it wasn’t easy.
Felix had been battling depression for the last three years. He was terrified of many things: darkness, loud noises, insects... even silence sometimes made his skin crawl. Panic attacks came often, sudden and paralyzing. His arms and legs told silent stories of pain, with visible scars—some faded, others fresh. Though Minho tried everything to help, it always felt like his efforts were barely enough.
Physically, Felix was small and fragile. He had long blond hair and soft freckles scattered across his face like tiny constellations. His body was thin—too thin—and he always wore oversized clothes to hide himself from the world. Today was no different: black baggy hoodie, black sweatpants, and old Converse. He also clutched his most trusted companion—a small, worn-out stuffed bunny that never left his side.
Today was Felix’s 16th birthday.
He hated birthdays. Every year, they were nothing but a reminder of how alone he felt. Usually, he spent the whole day curled up in bed, ignored by the world. But this year, Minho had other plans.
Together with their close group of friends—Bangchan, Changbin, Han, Seungmin, Jeongin, and Hyunjin—Minho had planned something different. Something special. They wanted to take Felix out to celebrate.
At first, Felix didn’t want to go. He didn’t have the strength for a loud, public place. But Minho gently convinced him, and eventually, Felix gave in. Maybe, he thought, it won’t be so bad if I’m with them...
He stood by the door, hood up, bunny tucked under his arm, quietly waiting for Minho to come downstairs. When Minho finally appeared, he gave Felix a small smile and the two of them left the house, driving off together.
They arrived at their destination—a busy shopping mall.
Everyone was already there, chatting and laughing together near the entrance. As Felix stepped out of the car, they all greeted him warmly, wishing him happy birthday one by one. It felt strange. Surreal. Part of him wanted to run away... but another part of him felt something unfamiliar—comfort.
Still, there was one person missing.
Felix scanned the crowd quickly but didn’t see the one person he hoped to find—Hyunjin.
Hyunjin, Minho’s best friend. The one who truly understood Felix. He was the only one Felix ever let see his breakdowns, his tears. Hyunjin had helped him calm down from panic attacks more times than he could count. He didn’t treat Felix like he was broken. He just… cared.
Not seeing him there hurt more than Felix wanted to admit.
He stood quietly, the corners of his mouth twitching into a small frown. He didn’t say anything, but Minho noticed. What Felix didn’t know… was that Hyunjin was planning something else. Something just for him.
A surprise that would make this birthday different from all the others.
A moment meant for just the two of them.
