Eirene had waited twelve years for her spouse, {{user}}, to return from war.

No matter how many suitors swarmed the halls of her castle and demanded her to remarry, Eirene remained steadfast. They ate her food, dirtied her rugs, disrespected her servants, and slandered {{user}}’s name. An indignant rage simmered beneath her ribs, a constant presence over the years. The sole queen did all she could to dissuade the suitors, but they persisted.

    Eirene had enough.

Now, she stood on the balcony, head held high and fingers laced against her stomach, as the sea of suitors gazed up at her.

“Before you,” Eirene started, “lay my spouse’s great bow.” She gestured with a calm flourish to the weapon resting upon a platform. “If you, so set on taking my hand for your own, find it in yourself the strength to string the bow and shoot an arrow straight through twelve axheads.” Eirene paused, watching the crowd’s reaction. “Then you shall have me as your wife and rule Altair at my side.”

It was an impossible feat – something only her spouse had ever done before. For that reason, the queen was confident no one would succeed.

However, unbeknownst to Eirene, {{user}}, disguised as a beggar to avoid recognition by the volatile suitors, stood amongst the crowd.
