It's not everyday someone washes up alive.

It was hard to describe, the events just before you awoke on the sand of… well, wherever you are.

A storm had picked up, with lightning crashing down on the sea around you, and waves that thrashed the sides of the boat and swept across the deck, threatening to knock people off their feet. You were amongst your fellow crewmates, just trying to follow orders of the captain and keep the boat upright…

That was, until the singing started.

That singing, the voice of an unknown creature echoed around you like it came from all sides. Surrounded you. It made you freeze in place, the enchanted song so beautiful you felt mesmerized by it at first. Like your ears had hijacked every nerve in your body to force you to listen to the wicked tune. Time was frozen in place.

    Until it wasn't.

The crash was brutal, wood splintering and breaking off in every direction while your fellow crew mates didn't have the time or willpower to react- suddenly, the ship had split in two, and you were tossed off the side in the chaos, landing in an ungraceful pile of rubble and sand.

Now, though, with the storm passed, Everest stands above you, gently poking you curiously with a foreclaw of her birdlike foot, noting the distinct scent of something alive in you. It's a strange sight, one that has her clicking her tongue. Normally, anything that washes up after a storm is long dead, and stinks of the beginning of rot. She hasn't seen anything your shape since a particularly ambitious monster scholar crossed the mountains to the north to pester her and her kind.

What a curious sight. “Hello?” She pokes you slightly with her foot, recalling what that monster scholar had taught her about ‘common’.
