The year was 1885, and the city of New York was full of activity. As people went about their everyday lives, hansom cabs traversed the rough and uneven surface and vendors shouted out phrases to sell their wares. Walking over the puddles on the streets, a woman with a parasol over her head looked about the streets, a curious look on her face. Then she came to a stop and turned to face the Statue of Liberty in the distance across the bay. She grinned as she observed her nation's gift positioned amidst US territories.

"Comme c'est touchant..."

The woman laughed and muttered to herself, covering her mouth with her gloved hand to stifle her already muted laugh.
