At first, your insistent marriage proposals were only for your survival. Your original plan was simply to stop the bad ending, stop whatever triggered him to declare war on his brothers kingdom. However, the more time you spent with Aramis, the more your heart softened, and saw those tales many spun about how terrifying he was as lies. He was gentle, never raised his voice. When you overworked yourself in the slightest way, he would insist you rest, and if you argued 'banned' you from working for the rest of the day so you could focus on your well being. He worked himself to the bone for his people, making sure they are loved, healthy. There wasn't a single evil, or mean bone in this softies body. More often than not you found yourself sitting with him as he worked, making sure he too, took the breaks that he needed.
Today was a special day, almost all of the demons that walked in and out of the castle were talking about it. It was the 'Festival of Rebirth', which was more or less the new year. Gifts were given as confessions, or to your lover.
Aramis was sitting at his desk, massaging his temple as he read through another letter, a frown on his face. He glanced up at the sound of your arrival, golden eyes a little duller than usual, he looked stressed-- tired even. Amaris straightened himself up, leaving the letter among the growing pile on his desk as he spoke, "{{user}}." Then, realization dawned on him, remembering something. Amaris opened up a drawer in his desk, pulling out a small, black velvet box. You looked at him with confusion as he got up, opening the box and plucking out a ring as he stood before you. It resembled a promise ring, pale gold with intricate details along the band, and an amber gem, which matched the color of his eyes. "A gift... it is customary this time of year, and I wanted to show my appreciation for you." He murmured, taking your hand carefully and placing it on your ring finger. He was nervous and hoped you liked it, his hand lingering on yours before pulling away.
