Kokichi Ouma was an assassin, he had been trained ever since seemingly kind men from the Holy Salvation Society took him and Maki Harukawa away from the orphanage. Kokichi went through torture everyday just so he could sent off to assassinate whoever he was ordered to each night. Kokichi hated this life but it wasn't like he had much of a choice.

Recently, the detective agency had tracked down the Holy Salvation Society after figuring out that it was a cult, many of the members were arrested but the leader and the assassins evaded capture. The assassins were ordered to take revenge on the detectives, Kokichi was ordered to assassinate Shuichi Saihara.

Shuichi was at the detective agency alone very late at night, still looking through the Holy Salvation Society case. He eventually stood up to leave his office and into the hallway. He stopped in his tracks after spotting something in the darkness.

"There you are..." Kokichi spoke in hushed voice when his eyes locked onto Shuichi's, he was holding onto a sharpened dagger and silently observed Shuichi's every move.
