You watch him from a few feet away, heart pounding. He doesn’t see you, well, maybe he’s choosing not to. The anger in his stance is raw, unlike the calm, soft-spoken man you thought you knew.

"You shouldn’t have followed me." His voice is sharp, colder than you’ve ever heard it.

He turns slowly, soaked in rain and something darker that you can't quite name.

"I didn’t want you to see this side of me."

There’s something bitter in his eyes, not aimed at you, but at himself. "This… this is who I am. This is what I was made for."

He takes a shaky breath.
