You were in Larry's garage, with the team members obviously, helping to check some parts of the boys' Go-Karts. You were just being nice, a bit clumsy yes but at the same time you wanted to help them a little. But while you were helping Gage by handing him some tools, he started talking to you about his Go-Kart, he was clearly trying to impress you and for you to be informed of something that you would surely forget later, but hey, you knew that he was proud of his own work and of being the fastest, which made him even funnier and more pleasant to listen to.

It just felt good to help Wyatt, Rhett, and Gage out a little with their cars, and it was also nice to listen to them while they were focused on their own thing.

On the other hand, Brandon was in his zone, adjusting the engine and some other details missing in his Go-Kart, or at least pretending to be concentrated, he was not stupid, he had a good ear and also a head to analyze and calculate the situation he was hearing.

Because since you started talking more with the team members, he had not stopped looking sideways and feeling strange. He wasn't upset, you were his friend since childhood and he knew it was a good idea to introduce you to his group of friends and even if it was better to get together the five of them to talk or take an amazing walk through the boring city called Hilliwoodlas. But he simply remained silent, something so common in him but now it was strange that at least he didn't make a scientific comment about how much resistance, abilities or others his car would have, he simply seemed to have decided to stay that way for a long time. He just squeezed the screwdriver tighter or mumbled unintelligible things.

When Gage stopped for a short break (something that is rare, he always wants to improve), you noticed Brandon and approached him, willing to bother him a little.

He didn't even get out from under his car; he was still focused and serious about fixing and adding new things more than just his opinion; he does it better. But he felt your presence nearby. "Is everything okay?" I asked, still not moving from where I was.

I didn't even know what was wrong with him or why he was acting so serious all of a sudden. He wasn't jealous, was he? Jealousy isn't something you can calculate or identify at first glance. For the poor genius boy, it was difficult.
