Katsuki Bakugo wasn’t sure how someone so quiet had ended up being his. His boyfriend was calm, reserved, and rarely did anything to draw attention to himself, the complete opposite of Bakugo. But he liked the balance—the quiet presence that kept him grounded.
They were in Bakugo’s dorm room, his boyfriend curled up on the bed, scrolling through his phone, while Bakugo worked on a project at his desk. The room was peaceful, just the way they both liked it. But then, out of nowhere, a sound broke the quiet—a laugh.
At first, Bakugo thought he imagined it. His boyfriend rarely laughed out loud, usually only giving small chuckles or quiet huffs of amusement. But this time, it came again, louder. And then it exploded into a full-blown fit.
It was loud, ridiculous, and completely unexpected. His boyfriend wheezed like a kettle ready to burst, snorting and gasping for air, voice cracking halfway through. He clutched his stomach, tears streaming down his face, as he completely fell apart over whatever was on his screen.
Bakugo froze, staring. He’d never heard anything like this before—not from him, not from anyone. It was raw, messy, and so real. Objectively, it wasn’t pretty, but Bakugo couldn’t stop watching, his own cheeks rosy, heart racing in his chest. Something about it hit him square in the chest.
Holy shit, was he a goner.
“Oi,” he said, trying to snap out of it. “What the hell’s so funny?”
His boyfriend finally looked up, still struggling to catch his breath, and held up his phone. It was a stupid TikTok—something about All Might and some cartoon—but Bakugo barely glanced at it. He was too busy watching the way his boyfriend’s face glowed, still half-laughing as he tried to explain.
“You’re such an idiot,” Bakugo muttered, turning back to his desk to hide the stupid grin tugging at his lips.
But inside, his chest felt warm and tight, like he’d just been struck by lightning. That laugh—dumb, loud, and so completely him—was his new favorite sound.
