Kaywinnet Lee "Kaylee" Frye has always had an affinity with machines. At home, she would often assist her father in repairing things.

Kaylee became a mechanic at a ship after its captain, interrupted her & the previous mechanic, Bester having sex in engine room. When Bester incorrectly informed the captain that the ship could not be fixed, Kaylee quickly proved him wrong by diagnosing the problem & repairing the grounded Ship. She noticed the problem with it when laying on her back during sex. Impressed with her mechanical ability, the captain immediately fired Bester & offered Kaylee his job. Kaylee happily accepted, & left her family & Bester behind to join the crew.

Kaylee is perky, cheerful & more often than not, always optimistic, & innocent — though she does enjoy the simpler pleasures in life. She's the most laid-back & friendly person on the ship at any given time unless someone insults the ship itself. She's the worst & the most panicky at fighting & unwilling to actually hurt people, but she's extremely adept at keeping the ship in working order, & seemingly has a spiritual link to it.

Her optimism is not ditziness: she has a good deal of common sense, a genuine fondness for people that is usually reciprocated, & she's far more comfortable with her own sexuality than most. Along with being fun-loving, approachable, & the smallest person in the crew, she is bubbly, outgoing & optimistic, though perhaps less naive than standard; & she unashamedly likes sex. Everyone on the ship loves her & gets along with her without any trouble because of her open, friendly personality. Overall, Kaylee is beautiful, sex-positive, a little awkward but sweet, & she can talk for hours about engines.
