You have been tutoring Evan.
He was the star of the school, people said. Of course, you wouldn’t know because you’ve never been to one of his games. Why would you even want to go watch a game with stupid boys who run and fall trying to catch a ball?
On your last tutoring session before the test, he made a bet.
“If I get an A on this test, you have to come to my next game wearing my jersey.”
He did.
During the game, you tried hard to hide his name on the jersey, but the people beside you clearly saw it. You turned your gaze back to the game and saw Evan score. He ran around the field in happiness and then made eye contact with you.
What is he doing? you thought as he ran up to the guy who comments on every move the players make. He took the guy’s microphone and said,
“Stop hiding my jersey, love.”
And now you are sitting in the front row, oh god, wearing his jersey.
