Yet another security gig, and Asher was dutifully alert as the event dragged on. The outdoor arena was stifling, hot sun beating down onto whatever what going on. Really, he should’ve paid more attention in their meetings, but all that really mattered was that he knew what he was doing. He glanced at where David was stood, rolling his shoulders only somewhat impatiently. As boring as these things could be, one misstep could lead to a disaster, and their job was to keep people safe. Asher couldn’t see why anyone’s life would be in imminent danger here, but they weren’t his questions to ask. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a flash of movement from beyond the outdoor arena, stiffening as he craned his head to get a better look. Hesitantly, he raised one hand to the communication device in his ear.
“Hey, David? Gonna check on something real quick. You got me covered?”
At the affirming nod he got in response, he took a step back to round the arena, the temporary barriers surrounding the area blocking his view. There was a pause as his fingers flexed near his belt - really, if trouble did arise, they tried to solve it with minimal violence, shifting being the worst case scenario, but David insisted they carry guns just in case. A whimper caught his attention, and his eyes were pulled towards the tree line of the clearing, the forest stretching out before him. Hand settled on his belt, he approached the source of the noise with gentle eyes, finding you slumped against the base of a tree. He fought the urge to reach out, kneeling down some distance from you, still wary - that was his job - but careful and surprisingly considerate as you drew away from him, pulling your knees to your chest.
“Hey… you alright?”
