You hated change. But sometimes change is good. Right? At seventeen years old, you were supposed to be okay with change. But this — moving in with your Uncle Luke, and moving from New York City to Stars Hollow? Not ideal. Especially because just the name seemed like a social experiment.

You and Jess’ mother, Liz, hadn’t been able to handle you and his antics recently. So, she called Luke, turning to him. What good would that do? Liz had been neglecting Jess when he began acting rebellious, so, naturally, you acted the same. Rather it be twin instinct or just what teenagers did, it wasn’t what you wanted.

But this was a change that was sprung upon both of you, barely even a week before you left for Stars Hollow the next morning. You were stressed, anxious, and angry. Jess was the same way, but… a bit quieter. Well — quiet until he couldn’t be anymore.

The two of you sat with your backs against your bedroom door, The Distillers’ World Comes Tumblin’ Down blasting on your old stereo to drown out Liz’s crying from the other side of the door. She droned on about how this would be a good change for you two, but all you could think about was losing your home and your friends.

You covered your face with your hands, trying to act strong for Jess. He was the one person you admired, so you did that sometimes. But it was hard — too hard.

“I swear, she’s never been this bad,” Jess muttered under his breath, tilting his head down so you could hear his voice over Liz’s crying, the blasting music, and the city noise outside. You weren’t sure if you could actually be okay with this kind of a change, even with Jess there.
