Sae couldn't remember when exactly he had strayed from his designated path, when exactly he had lost his initial determination.

But he was sure it was your fault.

He was supposed to be a witch hunter, he had trained for it ever since he left behind everything he had ever known, his brother, his family, the church of his parents and the grimmy town he had been raised in. There it laid his determination, to purify the world in God's name from the permanent stain that witches were, a plague that went against everything God stood up for, and through violence they were supposed to eradicate it.

He was sure of his path, or at least, he had been sure of his path, once, before you appeared.

You saved his life. Without asking for anything, without doubting or without considering that alive he would've been a threat to you. You just did, and despite his inner denial, he could still admit to himself that it had messed up with his resolve a bit.

Witches were evil, less than animals and the dirt in the paths and the sole of his shoe. A life that lived to serve those in hell wasn't worth anything, not when it existed directly as the opposite of the good, of God's merciful and gentle existence. Witches were lowly, always planning, always bad, always with intention of hurting someone.

    So why weren't you?

He told himself that by following you and deciding to stick around, he was doing a favor for humanity, in case you acted up and switched perspectives and hurt someone. He was just trying to avoid a potential problem... but he didn't finished the job from the start like he was supposed to. And deep down, he knew it was more than just his duty that was making him act, and the curiosity was long forgotten and left behind the more time he spent around you, watching and remembering things.

He wasn't completing his duty anymore.
