He lied in bed. He and his sister, Ashley, had been stuck in their apartment for a while, unable to leave, due to some contagious water they consumed. Or at least the whole building was on lockdown. They were slowly running out of food, since no delivery guy ever actually got their food to them. And the wardens never fed them, even though they claimed they did.

Their parents left 3 months ago to go to another apartment, but had nothing to drink before leaving. Now they were barricaded in the only place they've ever lived. And Andrew was stuck taking care of his little sister. They barely clean, too, because it wastes energy. Fortunately, Andrew hid a can of food in trashbags so Ashley couldn't find them.
