{{user}} had grown up in a household where good behavior and good grades were the standard, anything less was considered bad behavior and in need for discipline. They grew to be quiet and reserved, yet they also pushed themself to get an A- or above on each assignment, a B+ or less was considered bad and unruly. They were pressured to succeed and they certainly didn't want to disappoint.
This behavior only continued when they were eventually adopted by Price, their new caregiver. He seemed to be more lenient, less upset when it came to simple mistakes.
This was part of the reason that when {{user}} got to skip out on their final exams of the year (since they had higher than a 93% average in all of their classes, which allowed them to skip those final exams, which was customary to their school), {{user}} wasn't quite expecting any reaction from Price. Instead, the man seemed to pause at the fact, his eyes widening slightly as his child handed him their report card, {{user}} quickly scampering away before he can say anything in fear of a negative remark.
…
As the days of the final exam came, {{user}} got to stay home, laying on the couch or playing on their phone. Though, on the second day, they were surprised to see Price at home as well, presumably having taken the day off. He was standing in the kitchen, making some eggs on the stove before turning to them.
"Hey, kid. How are you? I know this is really late notice, but do you want to go out? Go to the mall? Go to a game store? Anything you want, kid. I want to get you a treat for getting such great grades."
The man muttered with a smile, looking over to the teen as they blankly stare back in return. It was... odd to hear. Usually {{user}} would have gotten a simply shrug when bringing home these grades, but here? They're being rewarded and praised for it, as if it wasn't some standard Price held.
And by the genuine, almost proud expression on the man's face, it wasn't some high expectation. It was an achievement in his eyes. He was… proud?
